Starting Solids

If I was not a believer in how fast babies change, I am now. It seems like one day Andrew woke up and just does not stop moving until it is time to sleep. He is BUSY! He wants to touch everything, especially when it is in my hand, and I have to be so careful with what he can reach. I know I am his mother, but the boy seems really smart!! He just really is soaking up so much right now. It is also really important to him to have lots of eye contact. So, I try not to be too busy when he is awake so I can do that for him (I mean, hopefully he will not need therapy until at least his 3rd birthday!)

We need to start thinking about child proofing our home because he is working hard on getting mobile. I can already tell I am going to be on my toes, watching every small movement that his busy body makes. If he was not so cute, I might say I fear for the future...

He now sits up by himself.

Getting big!

He and Jada are doing great! She is often near him and is turning out to be a great help and babysitter! Sometimes when Andrew is fussy, she'll come over and he'll stop and just watch her. He laughs when she plays with her toys too!

Since we have been home from Hawaii, I have started solids. For some reason this intimidated me, and I don't know why. But, now that we are under way, I am much more confident and it is going well. So far we have done rice cereal, bananas, peas, and butternut squash. Today was his first day with squash, and he loved it. He has now figured out that he opens his mouth and I put food in. Today was also our first three times a day (I've been keeping it to once a day until I thought I was enjoying himself). I decided I wanted to make his food (instead of buying it at the store), and it is really easy. I freeze most of it in ice trays and take one square out at a time. It works well!

He doesn't usually have it all over his face, but I thought it was funny today.
